We are offering a one week course in 2022. It is targeted to youth practitioners and will give them the opportunity to learn about Maker Education and how to apply these concepts in youth work.

Maker education is a problem-based and project-based approach to learning. It emphasizes the use of low-tech and high-tech gadgets, a trial-and-error mindset, and it encourages learners to develop 21st century skills such as communication, creativity and problem solving.

WHO?

We are searching for candidates who are interested in:

  • Developing their skills in digital technologies, problem solving and STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).
  • Developing skills to be able to use digital technologies for social change.
  • Developing skills around MakerEducation and learning how such activities can be used to inspire younger generations and reconnect them with society.

WHAT?

The Winter 2022 mobility will  focus on the following topics:

Introduction to maker education: plunge into the universe of maker education, learn from each other’s experiences, explore state of the art educational supports on maker education, debate the influence of maker culture and the maker movement on the youth work sector

Electronic prototyping: learn how to create electronic circuits and manipulate electronic components. Explore maker activities for youth on this topic

Coding: explore physical computing, visual coding softwares, learn how to run educational activities on the computational way of thinking and enhance interactivity of electronic creations via computer programming

Digital Fabrication: Gain an insight into digital fabrication methods that you can use on a local and small level. We will have a look at 3D printing and using a mini CNC machine to produce the designs you create on the computer.

Maker education and inclusion: learn how to get hard to reach youth involved in maker activities.

WHERE?

The courses will be held in Tirana, Albania. We will be hosted by Arduino Albania, an informal group of people with a passion for open source hardware and software, digital technologies and accessible education for all.

Our activity, beyond training, aims to recreate a link between European peoples, by giving them memories and common knowledge. To do this, we work in partnership with schools, social centres, and public events, in order to always be as close as possible to social realities.
