They lived happily ever after-fairy tales and storytelling as tools to activate young parents and develop their key competences
Our project is aimed at young parents, social workers working with them and the volunteers who want to improve their capabilities in such work. High innovativeness of the project lies in the fact that cooperation can also take advantage of children.
What for is our project?
What for?
• For empowerment and activation of young parents and their children using fairytales and storytelling as educational tools to develop key competences
• to reflect and discuss about needs and roles of young parents and their families in intercultural European context with the special focus on their situation on the labor market;
• to exchange experiences of participants coming from different cultural contexts about perspectives for young Parents and possibilities for personal professional and social fulfillment in the society;
• to liven up tradition of story telling as an educational tool building intergeneration and intercultural dialogue;
• to use story telling and fairy tales as innovative educational tools for key competences development of young parents and their children;
• to learn and practice different techniques of building and telling fairytales as a way to develop creativity, communication skills and social skills;
• to build strategy and plan projects focused on young parents personal development and to prevent unemployment and social exclusion;
• to acquaint participants with diverse European program dedicated for young people (e.g. Youth in Action, Life Long Learning)

What one can learn?
During the project we will learn how to use fairy tales as a language of intergenerational dialogue and personal development. We will explore and develop key competencies referred to in the Youth Pass. We will explore the possibilities of non formal methods of learning by using interactive methods, drama and the world of fairy tales. Within a week we will create an international story, which already at this point will be translated into six languages. Who knows maybe in the future you can find it into the shelf next to Cinderella and Snow White and the seven Dwarfs?:)
Who can apply?
young parents* especially unemployed, willing to get active and develop their competences;
youth workers, social workers, pedagogues, trainers working with youth and young parents at risk of exclusion;
youth workers, social workers, pedagogues, trainers working in areas of activating youth at risk of exclusion and developing their social and cultural competences;
youth workers, social workers, pedagogues, trainers willing to develop strategy and small projects for young parents to activate them in their local communities after the training.
* participants – parents may come with their children. 6-8 places for children are previewed in age minimum 3 years and old maximum 12.
*please note due to the fact we want to reach as many young parents as possible
it will not be possible to accept both parents in the project however individual cases can be taken in consideration.
* individual cases of children younger than 3 or older than 12 years old will be taken in consideration by organizers.
