Let's train in recognition of non-formal learning in youth work

Let's train with our Neighbours is a part of the long-term cooperation between the Regional SALTO Resource Centres (South East Europe, Euromed and Eastern Europe and Caucasus) and their hosting National Agencies (Slovenia, France, Poland), which promotes the exchange and cooperation with and across the three Neighbouring Partner Regions of the Youth in Action Programme. The training course "Let's train in recognition of non-formal learning in youth work" aims to support the development of competences of youth workers and youth leaders for increasing recognition of non-formal learning in youth work. The training will focus on the two interlinked processes of social recognition of youth work: one dimension is the focus on youth work as non-formal education, their other is recognition of learning outcomes of (young) people participating in youth work activities. Thus, a strong emphasis in this training course will be given to projects participants are planning or working on. Specific objectives • Increase understanding of what is non-formal learning/education in the context of youth work • Raise awareness about different levels of recognition of youth work in society • Build capacities for developing and implementing projects aiming to increase the recognition of youth work and non-formal learning • Explore possible links between recognition of non-formal learning and employability/employment of youth people and their active participation in societies • Share and dicuss experiences, examples and possibilities of working towards recognition in different societies • Developing partnerships for future action in this field. Applicants should be youth leaders or youth workers who • Have some experience in project development and implementation • Have a clear interest to increase social recognition of their own work and of non-formal education/learning in general, in the wider community (some prior experience in this field is an asset!) • are committed to participate in the long-term training course for its full duration • are able to communicate and actively work in English • are implementing/planning to implement a youth work project they can focus on in the long-term training course The projects (project ideas) planned by the participants will form the backbone of the course. The different aspects and competencies addressed during the training will be linked directly to the participants' projects. Participants' projects should focus on increasing the social and/or political recognition, i.e. the impact of the organisation's youth work in their field of influence (community level, political, social...). The planned projects can be linked to other (ongoing) intiatives in this area, and take place on different levels (local, regional, national, international...). 24 participants will be invited, including from Youth in Action Programme Countries and 12 from Neighbouring Partner Countries (SEE, EECA and EuroMed) will be invited. The training will be run by a team of 2 experienced trainers and staff of SALTO SEE, SALTO Training and Cooperation and the participating NAs.
