to find the level of experience, potential and interests among participants, visualise it and stimulate the exchange of experience and learning from one and other.

Description of the tool

Prepare few topics, fields of interest write them down on the colourful paper and make a paper tree to each of the topic (e.g. Inclusion, Peace Education and Human rights, Cultural Diversity, Outdoor Education…etc.)
At the same time cut of 3 colours of paper apples or other fruit – 1 colour of fruit per participant as a minimum.
Introduce the activity in a interesting – story telling way (close your eyes and imagine yourself in the middle of the Garden.. …..Garden of Eden…). Than switch back to “reality” and explain people what do you need from them – it’s easy- you want them to share their experience! How?
Each colour of fruit has different meaning: the GREEN apple means a deep interest in the topic – a direction you want to go in future. The YELLOW apple means that you do things in this field up to some extend – perhaps as an assistant. And the RED colour means that you give training in these topics for some time.
Than ask participants to choose the fruit and write down their name and more specifically the topic – (e.g. work with people with physical disability – in the topic of Inclusion).
People can cut out more different fruits if they need it. When everybody is more or less ready ask them to hang their fruits on the paper trees and have a walk through the Garden of Eden = Garden of potential- experience which is among the group. Give enough time to this walk or connect it with the coffee break.
You can come back to this group potential – experience.
As a minimum you can have the trees hanged in the room for the whole time of the event. Also you can develop this activity further!
