Manual
“Breakout Box: The Manual” is a practical resource divided into seven chapters gradually unfolding the topic of educational escape rooms, from a general introduction of game-based learning to a step-by-step development guide with downloadable resources.
The manual was created as an educational escape game development resource for educators, youth workers, youth organizations and other stakeholders of the education and youth work fields who would like to develop educational escape games in their work.
The main objectives of the manual are to allow its readers to:
Discover the concept of educational escape games and its applicability to the education and youth work fields;
Understand the development logic of escape game taking as a base existing examples developed by youth workers from across Europe;
Explore game design methods, tools and frameworks that they can use to develop their own educational escape games on different topics;
Evaluate and assess their results with templates and assessment exercises to carry out with their target groups;
Get inspired with follow-up resources and good reads on the field.
