Aims of the tool
The manual explores the following issues:
1. The EVS cycle
2. Why and when you need a Sending Organization
3. Pre-departure phase: contents, competences, structure and tools.
4. Mentoring phase: role and recruitment, tasks and main issues (problem solving and learning aspects), competences and mentor-mentee relation, tools, case studies and suggestions.
Description of the tool
This booklet introduces measures to support EVS volunteers before, during and after their service.
In particular, it presents the pre-departure phase and the role of the mentor.
In addition to that, the manual contains a collection of tools and inspiring suggestions coming from the experience of youth workers.

This booklet was written to spread the result of two international meetings organized by the Italian National Agency in May 2016. It contains tools and suggestions used by the participants in their work within EVS projeects.
