To understand better what is hidden behind words, especially in terminology about disability

Description of the tool

Split the participants into language groups to the extent of the possible (for example - slavic, nordic, latin ...). Discuss in these groups the different terms or words used in their respective countries in the field of disability. Are they similar in the different languages of that language group? What do the words mean literally? Are they positive or negative words?. Try to translate the words into English or any other common language.

Based on these discussions (30 minutes) the participants prepare a presentation of these terms and their meanings and positive or negative connotations on a flipchart. Each group presents their report to the plenary and parallels and differences can be discussed (30 minutes).

You can of course choose the topic according to the aim of the training.
