Bioteka-NGO for promotion of biology and related sciences

Bioteka is an organization comprised of young people educated in the field of biology and related sciences. It is led by well educated and trained experts, most of whom being biology teachers and scientists working in this field. Organization’s main goals are to promote biology, ecology and related scientific disciplines, to fight passivity and ignorance of today`s society through popularisation of science and raise the awareness of public's role in the preservation of environment. The success of Bioteka is based on the members` hard voluntary work, inclusion in popularisation of environmetal politics and strong orientation on education and awarenes raising, which made the organisation one of the most influential nonprofitable associations in Croatia in this field. Our biggest ongoing project is a website www.biologija.com.hr, through which we are informing and educating the Croatian public and public of neighbouring countries about important topics concerning biology and related sciences (environmental sciences, medicine, health, nutrition etc.) on a daily basis. Also, we publish monthly interviews with the most eminent Croatian scientists, write blogs, columns and educational articles and inform our readers about the important ecological and other events through our Calendar of events. Other activities of Bioteka include workshops (mostly with children and young people), manifestations such as "Night of biology", „Festival of science“, seminars and congresses, publication of leaflets, brochures, comic books and other educational literature.

Our future plans include cooperation with other similar organisations and institutions from Croatia and European countries, which would surely result in higher quality of our work in the civil sector.
