One step higher – Climbing the ladder of participation - Training Course in Italy

Training Course

12-16 November 2024 | Bologna, Italy

The Training Course is designed for youth workers from civil society organisations and municipalities to co-create a common youth participation model with methodologies, phases and good practices for encouraging youth participation in democratic life.

"One step higher - Climbing the ladder of participation", is an 18 months project involving 8 organisations from Italy, Portugal, Georgia, Albania, Spain, North Macedonia, Greece and Turkey.

Within the project the partners have implemented a Study Visit in Portugal hosted by DYPALL NETWORK in May 2024 and the following activity is a Training Course in Italy hosted by Cooperativa Bangherang.

Goals of the training course:

  • Develop youth workers’ competences and non-formal education methodologies regarding youth participation;
  • Engage local municipality administrators and bring them closer to the needs of young people with the goal of involving them more and more effectively in the decision-making process;
  • Empower NGOs with an in-depth study of youth participation and updated methodologies for engaging young people;
  • Establish a network of youth workers to share experiences, resources, and ideas related to youth participation in democratic life.

Target groups:

  • youth workers from civil society organisations and youth workers from local municipalities who work in the field of youth participation at the local level and face the challenge to involve mainstream and marginalized young people in decision-making processes at the local level.

The activity is composed of a 5 day Training Course in Bologna, Italy, hosed by Cooperativa Bangherang. This training course builds upon the insights gained from the previous activity - Study Visit, offering participants a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and engage in meaningful exchanges about youth participation.

The training course employs non-formal education, reflective, and experiential activities aimed at developing a practical model for youth workers. This model will include effective methodologies, phases, and good practices to encourage youth participation in democratic life.

*** The participants from Georgia are already selected by the partner organisation Youth Horizon.
