Exploring Culture 2
2nd edition of "Exploring Culture" (March 06)
- explores concepts like culture, groups, values, identity, perception,
- is a reflection and learning process to develop competences, skills, knowledge needed for YOUTH activities.
Aims of the project
- to strengthen confidence and understanding of self (personal identity) in all participants;
- to build awareness and recognition of differences between cultures and identities, at local, national, and international level, as well as to identify the existing common ground between the participants´ realities at these different levels;
- to prepare the field for future collaboration including projects with a local impact or within the context of the YOUTH Programme;
- to increase inter-generational dialogue and build bridges between seemingly contrasting cultural backgrounds, especially regarding the contrast between rural and urban areas and the people, who live in them;
Objectives
- Provide space for participants to explore and strengthen their confidence and understanding of self as the basis for learning and interaction.
- Build awareness and recognition of differences between cultures and identities taking into consideration the dimensions of region, gender, race, social class, religion, nation.
- Identify the existing common ground between the participants´ realities at different levels.
- Provide the opportunity to develop new skills and competencies as well as to reinforce existing ones – especially those regarding personal communication, interaction, and intercultural comprehension.
- Inspire fascination in and willingness to explore other cultures and aspects of identity providing an experience of intercultural learning in order to build a stronger understanding of the European dimension.
- Propose an innovative approach to experiential learning, based on the perception of the different levels in each own´s personal identity.

Costs
Board and lodging are provided and paid by the host organisation.
Travel will be met firstly by the individual or sending organisation, and then 70% of the costs will be reimbursed following attendance at the training course.
