Wendy Broos

About:

I am a former EVS volunteer, passionate about learning, personal growth, travelling / embracing the unknown, and inclusion and sustainability. Besides being a freelance trainer, I work as a web developer and a consultant (mostly on the topic of diversity & inclusion). I am hard of hearing, a EuroPeer, a foodie, and a bit of a craftswoman / artist. Few things make me happier than seeing a table full of paper, markers, and other art & craft supplies.

Wendy Broos has 3 references for past work as a trainer.

Work experience

After my European Voluntary Service, I became a volunteer within the EuroPeers network (because I want more people to benefit from "our" Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes). In the beginning of 2019, the Dutch National Agency asked me if I wanted to be one of the junior trainers at the EuroPeers Annual Network Meeting, which took place in the Netherlands later that year. For me, this was a dream coming true, so of course I replied with a "YES!".

I was a junior trainer at the EuroPeers Annual Network Meetings of 2019 and 2021, and a senior trainer at the EuroPeers training courses in Austria (2022), Estonia (2022) and the Netherlands (2023), as well as the Annual Network Meeting of 2023 (which took place in Riga, Latvia).

My three main areas of interest are personal growth, travel, and inclusion, diversity & sustainability. When it comes to my work experience and the jobs I love(d), it always had/has something to do with at least one of these topics.

Educational pathway

2007 - 2010, BA in Linguistics with a specialisation in Sign Languages, at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Elective courses: 'Developmental Psychology', and 'Communication & Social Influence'. Through studying in Amsterdam I learned a lot about different cultures (including Deaf culture) and world views.

2010 - 2014, MA in Dutch as a Second Language, at the University of Amsterdam as well. Here I learned a lot about formal and informal learning (languages & in general).

2015 - 2016, nine months of European Voluntary Service. My first, life-changing encounter with non-formal education.

2016 - 2018, trainee at 'De Toekomst van Brabant' (The Future of Brabant), a two year traineeship (3 x 8 months), in which I worked for different municipalities in the province of Noord-Brabant while following an intensive training programme focused on project management, policymaking and personal development. This experience taught me a lot about how the (local) government works, and I acquired useful project & time management skills, but mostly I learned that my personality & bureaucracy are not very compatible. ;)

2018, Storytelling & Storyweaving (training course)

2021, Train the Trainers: Inlining Online Processes (online training course)

2023, Meta Certified Marketing Science Professional (online training course)

2023, YouthPass Workshops for Trainers (online training course)

2023, Elements of Connection (training course)
