Aims & objectives

Society is moving towards increasingly inclusive models of participation, training and work, mainly regarding people with diverse abilities.
Adaptations to generate more accessible spaces, from physical point of view, they are increasing, respecting European regulations in terms of accessibility.
The objectives of this training were:
1. Promote the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as Human Rights developing the concepts of inclusion, accessibility and universal design.
2. Promote the inclusion of those with diverse abilities in youth work, leisure and non-formal education actions through accesible methods.
3. To equip participants with tools, knowledge and resources to make effective the inclusion of those with diverse abilities in their activities.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

24 participants, with and without diverse abilities, plus 3 personal assistance, from: Spain, France, Portugal, Slovenia, Moldova, Malta and Ukraine.
They were youth workers, trainers and projects managers working actively in the partner organisations.

Training methods used & main activities

All activities of the programme were planned with an inclusive approach in order to be able to include all participants actively on them. Some of the methods used were team building activities, world café, discussions in small groups and plenary, roles plays, life library, co-planning of sessions with participants and trainers, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Participants with diverse abilities were able bring their knowledge and experience to the training, not just as participants, but also how they face challenges in their daily lives in order to be included as professionals in youth work and trainings.
Participants without diverse abilities acquired a deep understanding of inclusion needs for those with diverse abilities working in the field of youth.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

As the project manager and member of the trainers team, I had the tasks to plan, implement and evaluate the training activity.
As part of the trainers team my tasks were also to support my co-trainer in the implementation of the programme, and learning process for participants, as individuals but also as part of a group process.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
