The training activity took place
in Paros, Greece

Aims & objectives

To increase participants’ knowledge and awareness about values underpinning non-formal educational youth activities and the learning processes and opportunities within them
To familiarize participants’ with the values, mission, structure and ways of organizing the exchanges and develop the necessary skills to deal with the life cycle and the different aspects of international youth exchanges
To provide the tools for participants to use creatively and efficiently the potential of outdoor spaces in international youth exchanges;
To work on the interaction, inclusion, promotion and dissemination of the results of the exchanges within local communities;
To discuss and develop the quality criteria for youth exchanges and their contribution to a youth organization’s needs, realities and overall strategy of the network;
To encourage participants to develop new methods and approaches in ICL activities;
To expose participants to an intercultural process.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

An internation group of youth workers, volunteers and youth leaders coming from Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Poland.

Training methods used & main activities

The training was based on a methodology of experiential and non formal learning.
Tools that were used included:
simulations
role playing
games - energizers
discussions
presentations
world cafe

Outcomes of the activity

Participants increased their competences in dealing with the organization of international youth exchanges with a focus on the interaction with the local community.
They also had the opportunity through a simulation to have feedback on project development and proposal.
New partnerships were created and a youth exchange and a training came out of the event.
