Value it! Training for trainers in value based youth work

Aims & objectives

Aim of the training course:
To develop competences (skills, knowledge and attitudes) and provide tools to youth leaders, youth workers and youth trainers for running international and local activities on value based education.
The objectives of this training course are
- To introduce the concept of value based education to participants of the training course;
- To analyze and present local realities through the aspect of importance and practice of value education.
- To create the space for participants to reflect on their personal values;
- Through sharing in the group to define interpersonal (group) values;
- To discuss the concept of European values (tolerance, democracy, equal opportunities and etc.) and analyze how they meet personal values of participants;
- To discuss the European impact of value based education in a local reality;
- To reflect on importance of values education in the development of young people;
- To develop skills and awareness being a value education trainer
- To experience outdoor experiential learning as an approach and method to value-based education;
- To create space for participants to learn, share, develop and try tools for value-based non-formal education;
- To provide frames for participants for future action (at international and local levels) development.;
- To create a network for future sharing around value based education;
- To give new and innovative tools to the participants in value based education;
- To let the participants think out-of-the box in value based education;

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

24 youth trainers and youth workers coming form Belgium, Spain, Finland, Poland, Lithuania and Estonia.

4 trainers from Poland, Estonia, Belgium and Lithuania.

Training methods used & main activities

Out-door experiential learning; Self-reflection tools; Spirituality tools; Tool fair market (learning from each other); Open space.

Outcomes of the activity

A network of value educators was developed, various methods on value education was gathered and shared.

Designing and implementing the training program. Main responsibilities in the program - out-door experiential learning.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
