Training Course on Children Rights: Promoting Emancipation

Aims & objectives

The TC aimed at developing competences of youth leaders who were working in non-formal education contexts with children (under 18 years old), in the topic of Children Rights Education as a tool towards Child Participation and Social Inclusion, by exploring the topic of Social Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group of participants was youth leaders and educators from all over Europe (Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Spain).
The team of trainers was composed by Portuguese, Lithuanian and Catalan trainers.

Training methods used & main activities

The topics were tackled through participative methodology and non-formal education methods with the support of CoE's manuals Compass and Compasito.

Outcomes of the activity

The training reached its objectives and participants stated in their evaluations their wish to continue or start the work on Human Rights Education, as well as their defense of volunteering.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was trainer and organisational suppport in the course. I was fully involved in the development of the concept, preparation, implementation and evaluation. During the training I ran mainly the sessions on Human and Children Rights and Child Participation. I also supported in the social theater and project development sessions, as well as lead the management of the practice with local children. Moreover, I documented the rest of the sessions for the final report.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
