Train-the-Trainers Week

The training activity took place
in Brno, Czech Republic
organised by ELSA
01.07.2013 - 07.07.2013

Aims & objectives

In addressing the need of youth education and empowerment within and beyond the framework of the organization ELSA, we looked at ways to pursue the mission of training youth to become trainers in order to catalyze a positive impact in their local and global, corporate and non-corporate, public and private environments.

Therefore, the Train-the-Trainers Week (TTTW) of ELSA in the Czech Republic aimed at the following:
# Delegates are empowered, confident and equipped for designing and delivering trainings & facilitations in various challenging environments
# Delegates understand how learning functions and develop the capacity for feedback and resilience
# Delegates explore their capacities, responsibilities and ethics as impactful trainers

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

TTTW hosted the environment for 11 young and motivated future trainers and leaders of the organization, coming from 8 countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Sweden.

Training methods used & main activities

Parts of the seminar were centered around concepts such as the Art of Hosting (AoH), as well as innovative interactive seminar delivery designs such as graphical facilitation and training simulations.
We created living learning landscapes: visually, auditively and kinesthetically, using methods such as museum, vernissage, large and small group exercises, simulations and roleplays.

Outcomes of the activity

We believe to having transformed many, if not all of the 11 young delegates from around the world, in terms of
- taking training opportunities in their ELSA entities,
- taking training opportunities beyond ELSA, in their circles of family, friends, community, business, and
- having a deeper understanding for their own training and leadership capacities.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

During the seminar premeeting, I was responsible together with my core team (3 people) to co-create TTTW in terms of logistical and session planning, and co-facilitate the team in terms of teambuilding, visionbuilding, and session preparation.
During the seminar, I trained, facilitated or hosted the delegates on different sessions centered around training, facilitation, hosting, intercultural communication and personal development.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
