The Southern Western European Platform is one of the main international training events taking part at Erasmus Student Network. The main aim is to build capacity in active volunteers on the local level in order to help them improve the quality and impact of their work and empower them to become more engaged in the national and international structures of Erasmus Student Network.
The event included young participants and trainers/staff from local and national sections of Erasmus Student Network in France, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and Spain.
The following activities have been carried out through non-formal education:
Group work
Discussions
Individual and group reflections
Dynamic activities
Role play and informal learning
SWEP Malta fostered capacity building in active Erasmus Student Network volunteers and empowered newcomers to the organization to become more active volunteers in the future. Besides, the event was a place to meet, exchange ideas and explore potential (cross-border) cooperation between local and national organizations within ESN. With a variety of topics tackled, from leadership over personal time management to safety in the network, each participant was able to find suitable workshops.
I was part of the team of international trainers. My tasks and responsibilities were:
- Designing workshops about communications and fundraising
- Preparing the sessions in advance and participating in meetings with the organization team
- Delivering training and, facilitating the sessions, sometimes on my own and sometimes together with another trainer
- Evaluating the work done
- Setting up safe spaces for participants
The experience of having Covadonga as a trainer for the event was very positive. Her background as a facilitator offered the participants the opportunity to enjoy great trainings, debates, discussions and overall sessions.
