Sustainable Young Entrepreneurs

The training activity took place
in Eskişehir, Turkey
organised by Tepebasi Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation
26-06.2-07.2018

Aims & objectives

In order to increase
employability, young people need to be educated and trained to transform ideas into action, by
acquiring business knowledge, skills, and attitudes: a sense of responsibility, initiative, teamwork, and
competitiveness, including creativity. In finding innovative and modern solutions for problems we face
locally, the focus of this project was on a particular branch of the economy – green economy, sub focusing on challenges in urban areas. The European Union has adopted its Action Plan until 2020, called the
“3x20%”, in terms of reducing energy consumption by 20%, increasing the use of renewable energy
sources by 20% and to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by 20%.
Employment in this field is a key element in generating strong growth and creating jobs, especially
leaning onto the new global deal from Copenhagen, having this field in focus until 2050. Employment
and green economy were discussed during this training course through European perspective and
possibilities for solving problems or improving the situation were found in European standards, trends,
experience, and policies. Participants learned how they can start their own business in their
communities especially in small industries that produce materials for low-energy buildings; and how
to encourage young people and especially in that respect to go towards economic independence and
decrease of unemployment. Campaigning on creating a better environment for opening businesses on
a local level, promotion of entrepreneurial education and training, and European policies are yet
another tool to be gained. In order to help promote European policies and strategies, and to help
achieve their goals, this project has objectives to
- Widen the knowledge; equipping with the right skills
and competencies for job creation among youth.
- Exchange knowledge, experience, and good
practices on entrepreneurship, green jobs, and renewable energy sources among young people from
their own country, city, and municipality.
- Encourage youth participation especially in starting their own business as entrepreneurs.
- Foster creativity, competitiveness, and a sense of initiative toward self-employment.
- Empower young people to take initiatives on the promotion of entrepreneurship and self-employment in the field of RES on a local level.
- Creating a network of young people and
organizations, fostering mutual cooperation and future actions under the Erasmus+ programme.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The target group of the training was;

We wanted to include young people from different participants with fewer opportunities with cultures, ethnicity, and religion to give them a chance to work together. We see the inclusion of different groups, disadvantaged and with fewer opportunities as one of the basic processes with critical economic and social issues in different parts of today's Europe, especially
developing countries of the EU and the whole region. The partners mutually agreed
conditions and criteria (needs, motivation, socio-economic status, gender, etc).
First of all, due to the previously established criteria among partner organizations, having in mind objectives and future tasks under dissemination and
exploitation strategy, participants should be in direct connection with the partner organizations,
dealing with the issues that are priority themes of this training course. Namely, youth workers and
volunteers, along with the associates of partner organizations was invited too. Furthermore, young
people already engaged as entrepreneurs and green economy, practitioners and those that are
involved in the promotion of sustainable development directly as advocates or indirectly (working with the
organizations or enterprises that run their business sustainably) are yet another profile desired for
this training course.
