Aims & objectives

“Strengthening competencies of youth workers for reducing unemployment” was training course designed that participants with active and practical methods will be dynamically engaged in the learning process, where they will have the opportunity to enhance skill and gain the competencies necessary to guide and develop activities for increasing the employment competences among the young people with fewer opportunities in their community.

The objectives of the TC are:
 To learn how to recognize values and interests, assessing attributes and skills, identifying learning styles and learning strategies, goal setting, planning and tracking progress.
 To transfer knowledge for identifying and practicing workplace behaviors most often required by local employers.
 Empower young people to work in a team, learn from each other, giving and receiving feedback.
 To learn about the local labor markets, educate how to write an effective CV, prepare a clear letter of application, interviewing skills and job search basics.
 To lead and educate young people in budgeting, savings, planning skills that can help young people manage their income and expenses.
 Promote YiA Programme, providing mobility and volunteering opportunities for young people where they can develop their competencies.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

32 youth workers, youth leaders, teachers, educators, facilitators actively involved in youth work from Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria.

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal and informal methods were used for this TC like small and large group discussions, individual and team work, role plays, games, brainstorming, simulations and reflection activities for reaching the aim and objectives for this TC.

Outcomes of the activity

After returning home the participants are expected to act as multipliers of the project, with the task to raise self-confidence among youth, plan and implement local and international activities where young people will gain skills which are important for their future employ ability, reducing unemployment among young people.
-Training materials for organizing future training were also provided to participants, where the can train their youth about work readiness skills
- According the mid term and final evaluation of the training more than 90% of the participants stated that they are satisfied with the TC, they pointed specific learning points, and that the course 100% met their expectations.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

- Work in a team with other trainers, staff members and organisation.
- Prepare and organize the materials and working books for participants.
- Motivate, inspire and deliver the training curriculum to the participants in professional manner.
- Control the group dynamics, requirements from the participants according to training and during their stay at the venue.
- Deliver the positive and constructive feed back to the participants and trainers team.
- Address future recommendations for improvement and contribution to the final report.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
