Prison Brake

The training activity took place
in Seine et Marne, Parisian region, France
organised by INJEP-AFPEJA
12/10/2010 - 17/10/2010

Aims & objectives

Prison Brake was a European Contact Making Seminar concerned with Young people in conflict with law and organisations supporting them.
This seminar supported youth workers and organisations working with & for young offenders, ex-offenders, young people at risk of offending, or young people under protection or educative measures decided by a judge as well as young people from this target group themselves in discovering how to access opportunities through the Youth in ACtion programme and the LLP.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

This training was part of the French National Agency TCP of Youth in action programme
in partnership with :
-ADSEA 77, local branch of a national French NGO working with this target group
-the SAN (Syndicat d’agglomération nouvelle) of Sénart (a group of 8 local authorities sharing competences and ressources).
I delivered the training with support of the team outlined above inclusing two colleagues from INJEP

Training methods used & main activities

The training was extremely interactive as it included participants from the target group as well as those who work with this special group. There were opportunities for skills sharing, small workshop sessions to discover new elements of the Youth in Action and also the Lifelong Learning Programmes. Visits to professional social projects related to the topic and facilitated discussion and debate.

Outcomes of the activity

There were no publications planned as part of this training. There was however an opportunity for participants to develop and plan projects together at least two of which have already been realised through the Youth in ACtion programme.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I developed the training and facilitated it, being the lead trainer for this event, I worked in partnership with INJEP staff to arrange and facilitate the training, help identify partner agencies to recruit participants and organise the content.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
