Patricia Amaro: Patrícia is a graduate of Sociology
and holds a master's in Social Administration. Her
career has been multidisciplinary, always
connected with youth and child protection. In
2005 she developed a Local School Education
Plan, where she implemented non-formal
education session until 2011. Since 2013, she
belongs to the Pool of Trainers of the Portuguese
N.A, and has been involved in different activities
(EVS Cycle, TCA, Dissemination, Youth
Exchanges). During these years she has worked
mostly on voluntary, democratic participation,
gender equality, human rights, and global
education topics.
In these 6 days of training, we developed a program with methods of non-formal education:
Day 1: welcome space and guess my passion
Day 2: Programme, Organisations market, team building (mission impossible), reflection (self-assessment moment), Taste of Portugal (presentation of Portugal with the senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste)
Day 3: EVS duties and Rights (Agree and disagree) In an agree/disagree setting, participants are asked to take a stand on the following issues and then share, in popcorn style, their justifications for their position, if they wish. Here are the phrases:
1. Being an EVS volunteer is giving more than receiving; 2. (EVS volunteers don’t need to be qualified); 3. Hosting EVS volunteers in an organization is a way to substitute paid work; 4.The key point of EVS is doing activities, not learning out of it; 5.(Being an EVS volunteer is like volunteering at home); 6. The organizations involved in EVS are there to serve the EVS volunteer; 7. Some organizations should not use volunteer work; 8.(Impact of EVS is worth the use of public money )
Step Foward: 1. I was informed about the E+ Program, its values, priorities and objectives; 2.I was informed about all the details of my project; 3.I participated on the activity agreement planning; 4.I was asked about my special needs (food, health…);
5.I informed all the partners about my special needs (food, health, …); 6.I have and I was informed about the CIGNA SVE insurance; 7.I did my own research about the CIGNA SVE insurance details; 8.I keep a regular contact with my sending organization; 9.I reflect on a regular basis about my learning process.
10. I know what Youth Pass is about; 11.I am satisfied with my accommodation; 12.I receive 120€ per month as pocket money (for projects under Erasmus+); 13.I have no trouble with my food and living costs; 14.I have support for my daily activities in the organization; 15.I have a mentor which supports my integration and cares about my learning process; 16.I am committed with the values and the mission of my hosting organizations: a.I have a room just for me; b.I really like what I do; c.I can host family and friends; d.I’m living with more volunteers.
