Aims & objectives

The objective of this event was to train 20 youth leaders, who have run activities related to the Create a Climate for Peace Campaign during summer 2014. Topics around climate justice, the relationship between nonviolence and social and environmental sustainability was discussed and group facilitation skills for camp coordinators and activity organisers was also an essential part of this training.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

There were 19 participants from 17 countries (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine) who took part in the training.

Training methods used & main activities

Various games, discussions, simulations, role playing, presentations, experiential learning, direct action, work in groups, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Acquired knowledge and raised awareness on the topic climate change - what is happening on a global and local level, what the impacts are and how we can bring the positive change
Development of some practical skills to be applied directly during the workcamps or the other activities the participants are to organize
Elaboration of practical tips and ideas for more environmental way of living in everyday life, at the work place and during the events / workcamps
