NGO resources - Fiancial, Human, Personal

The training activity took place
in Lake of Thun, Switzerland
organised by Sponsorship Network International
18/11/13 - 26/11/13

Aims & objectives

NGO Resources - financial, human and personal aimed to support managers of youth NGOs to work on their resources systems: Exploring strategies to establish a financial base, to strengthen human resources and to effectively manage and strengthen personal resources.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The training team was from Holland/Brazil, Turkey, Israel and Switzerland. Participants were from Bulgaria, Portugal, Czech Republic, Palestine, Italy, Israel, South Africa, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Belarus and Turkey.

Training methods used & main activities

Since the profile of participants was managers of NGOs, we used methods that incorporated their experience and expertise as much as possible. For every topic (financial, human and personal resources) we designated one day and half of included input from us (exercises, simulations and input) and half of it included input from them (presentations, discussions, and strategy building). The final day was dedicated to putting all the pieces together and developing an overall strategy, to maximize the impact of the training once participants returned to their organisations.

Outcomes of the activity

The participants appreciated the holistic approach of the training, where they were able to focus on building their organisation and building their personal resources simultaneously. For some it was a new concept to have time at the training to specifically focus on and build strategies that they would then implement in their organisation, and having the training directly impact them and their organisations in a positive way was a refreshing and empowering opportunity.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

The topic was one that I was passionate about ever since creating and implementing it's "parent training" (Managing my organisation/managing myself). Therefore to work together with SNI and the team of trainers to create and implement this training was a unique and valuable experience for me, and my involvement in the training was from birth until completion, already thinking about the next edition.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
