TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Silvia Crocitta
The aim of the training course was to address the participants in using instruments of dialogue to start and understand how best to be active in EuroMed.
The project covered the following topics:
1. The use of new tools and soft skills;
2. The permanent priorities of active participation in the different Mediterranean countries in terms of volunteering;
3. The importance of cultural diversity as a key to Intercultural Dialogue to identify new techniques and new tools for an active participation of young people in different communities;
4. The theme of Volunteers (2011 annual priorities for Youth in Action Programme) and the positive influence that can give young people as a starting point for participation / action;
5. The inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities for social inclusion as an example of the fight against discrimination.
The spaces for the active participation of young people were aimed at supporting a mechanism of social inclusion and acceptance of cultural diversity as a basic and fundamental element of society and the factors that may influence the same. In addition, the project offered the opportunity to become aware and develop techniques and tools for a better participation in voluntary activities and social inclusion in EuroMed.
The target group were youth leaders, youth workers, active and/or future trainers, students and volunteers coming from the following EuroMed countries:
* Italy
* Turkey
* Egypt
* Morocco
The pool of trainers was formed by 4 people (one per each country, gender balanced) while the support team was provided by the NGO.
For all the duration of the training course we used non-formal education activities and tools, created some new approaches for social inclusion, volunteering and active participation.
We used role-playing, theater techniques, OSTs, cards plays and we refined and designed new istruments to develop participants' personal soft skills.
The training course could achieve the development of potential trainers, more involvement in volunteer actions (from local to international) and the implementation of a second phase of the project in Turkey.
As a Trainer, I have been planning and refining the activities to be implemented for all the duration of the project in cooperation with trainers and facilitators, which has been a great experience for me.
As a Project Manager, I have been involved in all the design, control and management of the project since the beginning to the end of it.
