MentOring Volunteer Exchanges (MOVE)

The training activity took place
in Mali Idos, Serbia
organised by VCV Serbia and LTEG working group (Long Term Exchange Group) of SCI with the administrative help of SCI Switzerland

Aims & objectives

The main aim of the training was to empower the coordinators of long term exchanges in the field of mentoring, and to give them a platform for networking and exchanging good practice.
The specific objectives of the training were:
* To increase the involvement of activists and attract new volunteers to organizations working in the field of youth exchanges.
* To deepen the commitment of volunteers/youth workers by developing skills and knowledge of the people responsible for volunteers’ management.
* To further increase the quality of long term volunteer exchanges by providing tools and a platform to discuss how to establish a sustainable network of mentors.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

An international group of 27 participants from 15 countries – Austria, Albania, Germany, Spain, Moldova, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland, Bulgaria

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal learning tools - presentations, work in small groups, creative/artistic activities, role plays followed by structured debriefings, practical exercises, case studies, various multimedia and visual aids.

Outcomes of the activity

Increased knowledge about the role of a mentor of a long-term volunteer
Acquired and developed skills for supporting and mentoring long-term volunteers
Development of new ideas for collaboration among the partners involved in the project
Preparation of a guide-book with tips and tricks for mentors

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Preparation, delivery, facilitation and reporting of the training.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
