The training focused on the human aspect of EVS projects and the interrelation between human key-elements within the projects - the relationships between volunteers and the human resources of the organizations that form part of the EVS support system, and how we can support the improvement and success of the projects through more efficient and effective mentors, coordinators, supervisors.
The objectives of the training were:
- To bring together support EVS people of organizations to share, exchange and learn together;
- To understand better the life cycle of EVS;
- To practice tools and skills for the success of EVS projects;
- To increase the competence to deal with challenging situations within the projects and in inter-cultural contexts;
- To understand EVS through the volunteers' point of view;
- To create new partnerships.
An international group of 23 participants from 12 countries - Romania, France, Malta, Greece, Estonia, Denmark, Hungary, Bulgaria, Portugal, Italy, Poland and Cyprus.
The methods we used during the training were various workshops, discussions, presentations, experiential activities, simulations and case studies based on the fundamentals of non-formal learning.
Participants became aware of the key-elements of the EVS support system and how mentor's activities could be improved and become more efficient and effective. The participants created a task-list (guide) to be used when working directly with EVS volunteers.
Designing, delivery and reporting of the training.
With Natalie Jivkova we had a TC in Cyprus from which we got several results and outcomes that help our work as mentors in EVS/ESC projects. Her working methods, creativity, flexibility and team spirit were essential for the success of the project. So we are grateful for Natalie's work.
