Aims & objectives

Ersmus+ project by name "Medi(a)tation" was implemented in time period from 20 - 29 August 2024 in Stratoni, Chalkidiki, Greece.

The "Medi(a)tation" training course was designed to equip participants with essential skills to navigate todays media landscape. Objectives included learning to critically approach news sources, effectively identify fake news, and distinguish credible information. Furthermore, it fosters teamwork, creating an inclusive environment for all. Overall, the course explores the impact of social media on daily life, enhancing participants media literacy and critical thinking skills.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group in training course by name "Medi(a)tation"were young people, youth workers, youth leaders, educators and Human Rights activists.

Participants from six countries, Romania, Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Italy and Portugal took part in the training course.

In total two trainers from Greece and Serbia were involved in delivering program activities.

The working language of the training course was English.

Training methods used & main activities

The working methods used on this training course were non-formal education and informal way of learning. This included: games, energizers, ice-breakers, team building exercises, individual and group educational activities, work on practical examples in a small groups, simulations, thematic workshops, discussions, debates, presentations, creating campaigns...

All these activities had the aim to promote topic of Human Rights, solidarity, cooperation, and creativity in youth work and fighting against discrimination, prejudices, stereotypes, violence and exclusion.

Outcomes of the activity

The main theme of the training course "Medi(a)tation" was focused on Human Rights and how to use different media in creating final product, campaign/s.

At the end of this training course, participants created five campaigns that are related with topic of Human Rights.

Their work in small groups was combination of on line and off line campaigns. They used digital media for combating discrimination and social exclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, and promoting solidarity and equality of all people, regardless of their national, cultural, ethnic, religious, sexual, gender or other differences.

The product – five campaigns – was distributed after the training course to all participants and in all participating countries, therefore spreading out that important message of respecting Human Rights, inclusion, tolerance, solidarity, understanding and peace.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

In this training course I worked as a trainer with my colleague Claire-Photini, expert in science in early childhood education in the sector of special education and psychology, and very skilled in facilitating on Human Rights topic.

In total two trainers from Greece and Serbia delivered program activities using an interactive and participatory approach method.
