Malta National Conference

The training activity took place
in Valletta, Malta
organised by AIESEC Malta
22.10.2014 - 26.10.2014

Aims & objectives

In addressing the need of youth education and empowerment within and beyond the framework of the organization AIESEC in Malta, we looked at ways to pursue the mission of capacitating youth to transform for a positive impact in their local and global, corporate and non-corporate, public and private environments.

Therefore, the National Conference (NatCo) in Malta aimed at the following:
# Delegates understand the reality, trends and challenges Malta currently faces
# Delegates are empowered, confident and equipped for addressing organizational and societal needs in their communities through leadership in various challenging environments
# Delegates understand the importance of global experiences for bridging cultural gaps and dealing with uncertainty in today's challenging world
# Delegates explore and widen their leadership capacities and understand their responsibility and mission to act upon
# AIESEC Malta strategically aligns through a common vision and concerted actions

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

NatCo Malta hosted the environment for 80 young and motivated current and future leaders of our global organization, represented by Belgium, Germany, Libya, Nigeria and Peru besides Malta as the host.

Training methods used & main activities

Parts of the conference were centered around concepts such as the Art of Hosting (AoH), as well as innovative interactive conference delivery designs such as graphical facilitation, training simulations and panel conversations.
We created living learning landscapes: visually, auditively and kinesthetically, using methods such as museum, vernissage, large and small group exercises, simulations and roleplays.

Outcomes of the activity

We believe to having transformed many, if not all of the 80 young delegates from around the world, in terms of
- taking leadership opportunities in their local, national or global AIESEC entities,
- taking leadership opportunities beyond AIESEC, in their circles of family, friends, community, business, and
- having a deeper understanding for their own leadership capacities.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

During the conference premeeting, I was responsible together with the core team (5 people) to co-create NatCo, design and deliver group coachings and trainings, and facilitate the entire organizational team (3 people) and trainer team (5 people) in terms of teambuilding, visionbuilding, and session preparation.
During the conference, I trained and moderated the entire plenary and smaller groups on different sessions centered around youth leadership and personal development.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
