TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Virginia Hernández
This project took into account the importance of promoting full and equal participation in society, in particular, participants from the eight partner organisations were trained in designing and implementing recreational activities and non-formal education for children, adolescents and young people with different abilities and mixed ability groups.
The work emphasised the values of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the principles of Universal Design. This project focused on activities that promote accessibility and inclusion among youth organisations and their participants. In this way, activities can be planned and implemented more equitably.
24 youth workers from: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Czechia, Estonia and Slovenia
The training included a white variety of methods, such group dynamics and team building, walk and talk, world caffe, role play and sensations workshop, open spaces, simulation, dynamics to support peers learning, self reflection, groups for learning reflection, meetings with different groups of the local community as the local team for wheelchairs handball or an inclusive batucada.
Participants developed a better understanding of the individual needs of young people with diverse abilities, at the same time they got to know the principles of universal design for a more inclusive youth work and how to apply them in their daily work.
During the training course they had the opportunity to cooperate in order to create projects that they can implement in the future and found other partners working with youth with diverse abilities, promoting their mobility in Europe and their participation in European programmes.
