TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Diogo Guerreiro
The training activity aimed to enhance environmental awareness, foster sustainable practices, empower youth workers, and encourage youth engagement in environmental initiatives. It addressed the needs of participants and organizations by providing knowledge on sustainability, content creation, and multimedia techniques, including video, editing, and photography skills.
By organizing an event focused on protecting marine species, the training activity actively engaged young people in environmental initiatives, encouraging their sense of ownership and responsibility.
The target group of the activity consisted of young people between the ages of 18 and 30, as well as youth workers and educators.
This training included people from Greece, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Poland, and Bulgaria.
Participants gained valuable content creation skills, including video filming, editing, and photography, enabling them to effectively communicate environmental messages through multimedia campaigns. Field trips to local environmental projects, such as the CREAC and the beach for turtle nest monitoring, provided practical experiences connecting participants with nature and the community.
Team-building games, Interactive workshops, group discussions and reflections, and event preparation and dynamization were some methods we used to create a good learning space for the participants.
These non-formal learning methods encouraged active participation, critical thinking, and creativity, fostering a holistic learning experience beyond traditional classrooms.
