Fora project aimed to promote inclusion of refugees in local communities of Serbia through creative positive naratives and politics on intercultural dialogue, solidarity and social engagement. Project used art to fight discrimination, to engage local community to actively take part in inclusion, by creating new naratives together with refugees. Workshops gathered younng refugees and people from Serbia, where they together through Forum theatre, tried to understand the process of inclusion and to empower themselves to involve in the process more. Center for Cultural Decontamination has been working on the topic of inclusion for many years, sinci it is a paramount issue in Serbia, still very sensitive.
Young people from Ghana, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Serbia participated in the activity. Most of the participants were refugees, transiting through Serbia, staying at Kranjaca Reception Center for Migrants and Refugees.
Methodology that i used is applied theatre, more specific- Theatre of the Oppressed. Two techniques that I used the moste were Forum Theatre and Image Theatre. Those methods inspired participants to simulate the real problems that they had been dealing with, and empowered them to use som of the solutions for those problems in real life.
Participants were empowered to advocate for social inclusion and to take participation in the final performans that represented scenes and materials that had been gathered during the training.
