Aims & objectives

The training was aimed at preparing young people for work as a leisure time animator by introducing them to the issues of leisure time pedagogy, play pedagogy and cultural pedagogy, as well as introducing them to working methods and games for children, young people and adults.

The training enabled young people to become familiar with modern forms of leisure time animation for children and young people, games and activities used in work with children, young people and adults.

The aim of the CAT Foundation's activities was to carry out socio-cultural and leisure time animations for children and young people, especially those with fewer opportunities and at risk of marginalisation. The training helped the organisation to equip the young volunteers with competences related to leisure time animation.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

15 participants: 3 team leaders and 12 young people (14+ years old) from Poland, Lithuania and Georgia.

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal education and play pedagogy methods were used during the training, i.e:
- Treasure hunt,
- Event games,
- Integration games and dances,
- Games and activities with music
- Face painting,
- Games with Klanza animation parachute,
- Balloons in games and modelling of long balloons,
- Animation on playgrounds in the revitalisation area,
- Physical and chemical experiments and experiments,
- Flashmob and animations for children and young people in the urban space.

Outcomes of the activity

The outcomes of the activities were:
- Equipping young people with knowledge and skills regarding the basics of leisure time animation;
- Empowering young people and raising their self-esteem and giving them confidence.
- Cultural exchange between young people from Poland, Lithuania and Georgia.
- 8 participants, continued to work as leisure workers after the training.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Development of an activity programme and delivery of training. Organise flash mobs and animations for children and young people in urban spaces.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
