TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Julia Motta
The training course was part of a 3 years' strategic partnerhip project called "EVS4all".
The main aim was to prepare the to-be mentors (for short-term EVS for youth with special needs) for their role and tasks in the frame of the project.
Therefore the course had different aims to achieve:
- to inform participants about the project, how and by whom it was developed and who is involved, and
- to get training in fields relevant for the project which were "intercultural learning", "blended learning and specific digital tools", "digital story telling", "facilitating learning and youthpass"
- also the further planning of the different EVS projects was happening during the TC.
The target group were representatives of all partner organisations in the EVS4all project: multipliers from Spain, Poland, the UK, France, Romania and Germany. Some were more responsible on an organisational and coordinative level of the project but the majority was to be involved as mentors in the short-term EVS projects.
There were a range of different trainings methods used, many of which are "non-formal" learning methods such as experiential leaerning, sociometric and other exercises, games, group reflections about learning etc. Additionally there were presentations - e.g. about the project and also about the digital tools. This part of the programme had an intensive part of trying to use these tools by producing presentations and even little films in order to find out how they could be used with the young people in the course of the project.
The activity prepared the participants for their roles as mentors and gave an overview about the project and it's current state.
There was a report about this project on the website EVS4All (evs4all.eu) and there's a conference "volunteering for social change" to summarize results and experiences from the EVS4all project in March 2017 in Berlin.
I was responsible for the overall group process in the training course and for some of the training activities about "intercultural learning", youth pass and the role of mentors. I was working together with Annette Mütter who is the responsible staff member from IKAB for the EVS4all project. Additionally there was a collegue from the UK (Luisa Messina) who was mainly responsible for the programme part about the digital tools.
