EVS on-arrival training for EVS volunteers and their mentors

Aims & objectives

The aim is to improve the quality of concrete approved EVS projects in Latvia:
*to prepare the volunteers for their EVS projects,
*to improve the collaboration with project coordinators and mentors,
*to strengthen their understanding about intercultural learning, EVS program, non-formal learning and Youth Pass as a learning tool.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

23 participants = 12 international EVS volunteers (from Ireland, France, Mexico/Spain, Ukraine, Italy, Georgia, Poland, Iceland, Lithuania) and 11 mentors (Latvia).

Training methods used & main activities

Getting to know each other & team building activities, international evening, group work and discussions, World Caffee, personal and group evaluation, personal learning plan development, practical challenge/group project in local society, mapping the rights and duties of EVS actors, communication exercises and reflections in the collaboration between volunteers and their mentors, common initiative planning with creative thinking elements etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Deeper understanding of EVS project specifics and volunteers & mentors roles, closer collaboration between volunteer and mentor, clear personal learning and activity plan for the project activities and learning, deeper understanding about communication tools, intercultural aspects and local culture, practical experience in project development.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Full time trainer – developing the program and delivering the training, reporting. In this training I also had a coordinator's role.

I worked on this training for 4 days as a full time trainer.
