EVS as a Tool for Social Inclusion

The training activity took place
in Coimbra, Portugal
organised by Portuguese National Agency
24-30th of November 2016

Aims & objectives

1. Explore EVS projects – KA1;
2. Explore the concept of Inclusion and the Strategy for Inclusion and Diversity;
3. Link EVS to Inclusion and diversity;
4. Exchange ideas and best practices;
5. To develop new ideas and projects;
6. Create a common “synergy” between the Portuguese and Spanish EVS organizations – creation of partnerships and network.
7. To increase the quality of EVS activities by developing competences of key actors in the EVS.
8. To reflect on the challenges related to inclusion and diversity in EVS and generate ideas on how to overcome these.
9. To increase the commitment of different actors in EVS enhancing their capacity to generate projects that are more inclusive and diverse.
10. To develop an effective plan for following up of the projects and partnerships enhancing the chances of their implementability.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group of participants was composed of 10 Spanish and 10 Portuguese participants who work in their organizations with EVS projects and especially with some connection to Social Inclusion. The team of trainers was composed by me and another trainer from Spain.

Training methods used & main activities

Silent Discussions, Small Group discussions, World Café, Open Space technology, simulation and project planning.

Outcomes of the activity

Groups of participants came up with project ideas on how to enhance Social Inclusion in their organizations' EVS's projects.

Furthermore, some partnerships were built among participants to further develop the projects that they have created.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My co-trainer and I were responsible for designing the whole training, implementing it and writing the report.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
