Aims & objectives

European Voluntary Service arrival training aims to help the recently arrived volunteers to settle down to their volunteering country and project. Themes of the training include for example aims of the EVS-projects, sharing between other EVS-volunteers, problem solving, learning styles, culture of the project country etc. The arrival training is essential part of EVS-projects provided by the National agencies like CIMO with it's cooperation partners.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The participants of EVS arrival trainings are young volunteers from all over the Europe and partner countries. For example this training had participants from Turkey, Spain, France etc.

Training methods used & main activities

Training included several non-formal learning methods like Lines, Aim boats, Motivation diamond, My project on the map of Finland, Drawing the perfect volunteer, Hotel Glocal, Learning styles through origami folding, Letter to myself in a year etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Based on the observations during the training and collected feedback the training got the participants to think and reflect their EVS-projects deeper than before. It also connected the participants with other volunteers, thus giving them peer support. After the training the participants felt more empowered with their abilities to solve upcoming problems and make the best out of the learning opportunity presented by the project.
