European Voluntary Service / On Arrival Training

The training activity took place
in Weimar, Germany
organised by EJBW
10. - 16.10.2016

Aims & objectives

The main goals of the EVS On-Arrival-Training were:
• to obtain important information on the EVS program and the support and evaluation measures
• to identify and reflect each persons transcultural identity and values
• to give the volunteers an opportunity and space for sharing experiences and solve possible problems in coaching and conflict management sessions
• to encourage the volunteers to be proactive and creative
• to create visions for the future projects and life decisions

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The target group were 20 volunteers aged 19 - 30 from various countries taking part in the EVS volunteer program in organizations in Germany.

Training methods used & main activities

During this training course, non-formal learning methods such as teambuilding activities, discussions, simulations, debates, small group work, presentations and creative methods were used.

Outcomes of the activity

Volunteers had the possibility to meet, exchange and reflect on their projects and learning processes.
They also had the possibility to think about their identity, their values, their personality and where these values came from. The focus was to think about identity rather than nationality as a definition for yourself.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

During this training, my role was that of a trainer together with my Co-Trainer Anja.
We concepted and planned the training according to the EVS Standards and the EJBW's internal educational curricula.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
