TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Inês Moreira
The training was targeted at volunteers of the Erasmus Student Network, who often work in teams, and the aim of the training was to improve their ESN sections by understanding how interpersonal conflicts work, how to effectively solve them and learn from them.
The objectives of the training were:
- Participants will understand basic principles of interpersonal conflicts, its stages and main reasons why they occur.
- Participants learn about possible ways to prevent conflict from happening.
- Participants discover several methods how to solve the most common interpersonal conflicts and know how to apply them in real life situations.
- Participants have an action plan which they can apply to their ESN section to create a healthy work environment.
The team was composed of myself and Stanislav Stanek (Czech Republic) as co-creators of the content and 2 other trainers were supporting us throughout the event with feedback on our content preparation and delivery (Eliza Popper from Hungary and Osiris Hoepel from the Netherlands).
The training event was delivered to a group of 16 participants from 10 nationalities: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Switzerland.
The training was fully designed with non-formal education methods and we used a diversified variety of these methods during the event. The training design was participant-centered and built upon expectations collected from the participants prior to the event, as well as adapted each day based on the feedback received from the group. During the event we used group work, discussions, simulations, role play, individual reflection, quizzes and videos, to mention a few methodologies.
By the end of the training, participants were able to understand and identify the basic principles of interpersonal conflicts, its stages and main reasons why they occur, able to implement measures of early prevention of conflicts and also methods for interpersonal conflict resolution. They also created document with a compilation of measures that can be implemented on their local organisations to create a healthier work environment within their teams.
As a trainer at this event, I was in charge of co-creation and co-delivery of the full programme of the event.
The team of trainers worked together during a preparation phase of 2 months before the event and also throughout the whole event (having daily meetings) in the design of the educational content. The 2 trainers also worked together after the event to ensure follow-up (production of a handout with the outcomes of the event).
