'Engaging Youths in Active citizenship Project''

Aims & objectives

It is established that EU and Neighbouring EU countries’ partnership is a progressive concept in
line with new waves of patriotism among youths globally who yearn for political and social
change, knowledge and drive towards active engagement in their local communities, regions,
and countries.
'Engaging Youths in Active Citizenship' project therefore is apt to elicit curiosity and interest of
youths as change makers/agents in their respective communities.
Project Aims:
 Reduce barriers which hinder citizens in active participation in local
governance, EU democratic and electoral processes, voting both at the
local, regional and national levels; dis-enfranchisement and causes
exclusion of youths with fewer opportunities and social obstacles.
 Promote young people’s active citizenship and social responsibility in
their local Communities.
Project Objectives:
 Develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people in
particular in order to foster social cohesion in EU regions and
Neighbouring EU countries.
 Foster mutual understanding between young people in different
communities through inclusivity, constructive engagement and
networking, resulting into reduction in prejudices, stereo-tying, racism,
xenophobia, islamophobia, conflict situations among participants and
citizens of their respective communities.
 ''Engaging Youths in Active Citizenship' project will also encourage
responsive and responsible citizenship therefore creating awareness
about EU and neighbouring countries political and democratic processes;
political deadlock in some parts of Middle East region will be case studies.
 EU electoral processes; EU elections now and in the future will also be a
point of focus therefore creating awareness of participatory citizenship
and democracy at all levels, human rights and enfranchisement of people
with fewer opportunities.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group/participants (with gender balance): 30 participants (Youth
Workers, Youth Leaders, Trainers etc. from 4 NGO’s-Serbia Aspera NGO 5,
Association Initiative for a Better Life, Bulgaria -7, Genc Erisim Dernegi, Turkey
– 10, and – 8 Associazione MODAVI - Federazione Regionale della Sicilia

Profile of participants:
All participants must:
 Demonstrate interest in the topic of the training course
 Be highly motivated to participate and contribute to the training course
as well as the implementation of follow-up activities

 Be ready and able to work as multipliers and share the outcomes of the
seminar with their organisations and/or communities
 Be adults
 Be able to attend the programme in full
 Be able to work in English
Working Languages:
English is foreseen as the only working language

Training methods used & main activities

Type of Project: Informal/Non-formal Training and Functional Citizenship
Exposition.
Methodology: 'Engaging Youths in Active Citizenship' project will encourage
interaction, exercises, games, role plays, case studies; film productions and
drama on current political and democratic issues.
In addition, practical involvement and participation, activities, pedagogical
techniques-discussion, buzz-groups, group work, presentations, Citizenship
Models, field trips to grassroots community centres etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Competencies:
Leadership, Team Building, Learning to learn, Mathematical competence and basic competence in science and technology:
 Ability to allocate resources to team members during workshop exercises and projects. Engaged in mental calculations in converting Euro to pound sterling and other currencies while purchasing items and drinks during visit to restaurants and bars.
 Ability to conducted researches on topical issues especially EU citizenship in particular and Youth in Actions programmes in general
Digital competence:
 Photographic evidences of workshop exercises and youth organisations and centres to be visited through the use of a digital camera.
Learning to learn:
 Ability to direct own learning, learnt new terms, tools, processes, procedures and practices on active citizenship in EuroMed
Social and civic competence:
 Experience and skills in working with people of different ethnic, cultural, linguistic, experience and social backgrounds.
 Strong organizational, drafting and interpersonal skills; knowledge of the Erasmus+ system; knowledge of cultural and international courtesy.
 Experience in project management and direct project implementation with team members.
Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship:
 Built and lead teams, participated in role playing suggesting and thinking outside the box all times
 Birth significant ideas, that lead to successful project actions through effective interpersonal skills, interactions and discussions with other team members
 Developing clear goals that are constant with agreed team strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments
 Adjusts priorities as required; foresees risk and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time effectively during team projects etc
'EYAC' project process, accommodates pre- training needs analysis, evaluation/reflections. 'EYAC' delivery sessions will also involve daily evaluation and reflection periods.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

During the conference premeeting, I was responsible together with my core team (4 people) to co-create iTtT, design and deliver a training on hosting, training and facilitation, and facilitate the entire organizational team (6 people) and trainer team (11 people) in terms of teambuilding, visionbuilding, and session preparation.
During the conference, I trained and moderated the entire plenary and smaller groups on different sessions centered around training, facilitation, hosting, leadership and personal development as well as graphical facilitation and recording.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
