The Eco-Warrior Mindset training aimed to empower youth workers to address climate anxiety and foster resilience for themselves and among young people. It sought to build participants' awareness of their role in combating climate change, promote sustainable behaviors and equip them with tools to inspire change in their communities.
The activity fit the goals of participating organizations by aligning with priorities such as environmental education, mental health awareness and youth empowerment. It provided strategies to integrate sustainability into youth work and emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
The training brought together youth workers, volunteers, and aspiring youth leaders from several European countries, including Hungary, Latvia, Italy, Spain, Czechia, Romania, Finland, Greece, Malta, Poland, Bulgaria. This diverse group enabled intercultural learning and exchange, fostering shared solutions to global environmental challenges.
The program used non-formal learning methods designed to engage participants actively and emotionally:
* Gallery walk: Exploring environmental issues through visual stimuli to prompt discussion.
* Newspaper theatre: Analyzing and presenting media narratives creatively through role play.
* Social dreaming: Facilitating collective reflection on climate anxiety.
* Artistic methods: Addressing personal resilience and resourcefulness through storytelling and art.
* Flash mob planning: Engaging the public in climate awareness campaigns.
The training achieved several outcomes:
* Increased participants' knowledge about climate issues, anxiety management and resilience.
* Development of creative resources, such as campaigns and toolkits, to support climate education.
* Strengthened collaboration and peer networks for continued action on environmental challenges.
* Creation of a shared resource toolkit for addressing climate anxiety and climate action.
Participant feedback, daily reflections, and completed projects showcased the training’s impact. Public engagement through the flash mob extended the activity’s reach and visibility.
