TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Sabina Belc
This training aimed to prepare youth workers and educators to effectively incorporate digital tools and methods into their work with young people. It focused on equipping participants with the skills to adapt youth work for "digital natives" while reflecting on the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age.
The training brought together youth workers from Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Poland, Croatia, and Slovenia.
The training combined theoretical exploration with hands-on activities to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Participants explored the concept of backpack journalism, uncovering its potential as a powerful tool for storytelling and active citizenship. They examined the role of digital and media literacy in empowering young people, reflecting on its practical applications within youth work. The program also involved testing and evaluating both face-to-face and online digital youth work methods, enabling participants to experience and adapt tools tailored for youth organizations. Workshops on digital storytelling and content creation further enhanced their skills, equipping them to engage young audiences in innovative and impactful ways. Additionally, study visits to successful examples of good practices in Croatia offered participants valuable insights into youth work practices implemented.
Participants gained an understanding of digital youth work concepts and practical tools to implement in their organizations. They reflected on the needs of young people in the digital era and developed strategies to address emerging challenges. The training enabled participants to identify effective digital tools, adapt them to their contexts, and enhance their ability to engage and support young people in a digitally driven world.
I worked as a trainer, playing an active role in co-designing and leading the program.
