Developing Adventure Educational Camps in Far North

The training activity took place
in Kuusamo
organised by The Finnish Youth Centres’ Association
12-18 December 2021

Aims & objectives

Objectives of the training are:
-To support youth workers to maintain and develop their professional capabilities and to share and exchange good practices and learn practical information about how to use adventure & outdoor education in camp programs, to support their daily working life.
-Professional peer learning: we know that the methods and processes used in different countries can benefit one another and we have a lot to learn from each other.
-To develop our knowledge and skills further. To develop the participant´s understanding and skills, in terms of quality of their instruction/leadership/guidance while working with youth groups, so that the needs of the groups are better taken into consideration, the group is able to focus and stop to the problems that appear in the group and to process the problems and help the group work better together.
-To support participants in learning how to conduct well reflection in different situations and its importance. Adventure education offers a great framework, which also helps to develop abilities for reflection. Reflection aims to transfer the learning experience to recognition and further to personal development.
