Aims & objectives

“CARE - Creativity And Reuse for Empowerment” is an 8-day-long Training Course that aims at enhancing the sense of inventiveness and entrepreneurship of participants, address the question of building an active and inclusive society. The project will involve 30 participants – youth workers, youth advisers, project leaders, social artists working with young people - coming from 14 EU Countries: Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Romania, Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Cyprus and Italy. CARE is based on the theme of sustainable development and its three key dimensions: economic, social and environmental. Sustainability, creativity and inclusion are seen as the cornerstones to promote empowerment process. In particular, CARE aims at promoting creativity as problem solving approach and to promote creative reuse and recycling as artistic educational activity to involve young people. The project believes in the potential of youth work towards stimulating empowerment, as young people can be the best promoters of creative projects involving youngsters in social life of local communities. CARE aims to enhance the sense of inventiveness and entrepreneurship of participants, and address the question of building an active and inclusive society.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

“Creativity And Reuse for Empowerment – CARE” Training Course brought together 30 youth workers, youth advisers, project leaders, social artists working with young people from 14 EU countries, such as Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Romania, Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Cyprus and Italy.

The team of trainers applied different methodological approaches during the CARE Training Course, such as experiential learning, cooperative learning, peer-to-peer learning and creative thinking methods. The working methods were primarily based on the active participation and learning of participants promoted through the non-formal and informal activities. Theoretical sessions were also integrated but performed in an interactive way. The main methodological approaches were based on the UNESCO Four Pillars of Education – Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Live Together, Learning to Be.

E-brochure with pictures of the artistic recycled objects developed by participants

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was full time trainer steering the group dynamics and the ongoing learning process of the group. Moreover I was the lead trainer for the following sessions:
* ice-breaking and group building activities
*Why do we CARE?For this session, participants were asked to bring an object/ image/ material that from your perspective is connected with social inclusion, creative reuse, empowerment/sustainable development.
