Aims & objectives

‘Advertising the Change’ was a Training Course that was implemented in Alsótold, Hungary in 2021 September. The program was designed for those who are open to innovative methods in youth work and are motivated to learn about the method of creative recycling and build it in their daily work, especially while working with disadvantaged groups. We mixed the method of creative recycling with different kinds of media tools - which supported participants to share their ideas and show topics that are important for them and their organisation with these tools.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

In the group we had 14 youth workers from 6 countries - Greece, Romania, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Hungary. The participants were mainly youth workers, educators, volunteers and members of youth organisations. In the team we were two co-trainers and we had support in a form of team members who supported the program elements and participants' individual learning paths. We also had a few staff members who helped the program with project management and financial and administrational issues.

Training methods used & main activities

The main method we use is creative recycling which is a method based on creativitiy, cooperation and crafting. We use creativity and upcycling as a tool to develop various skills.
We mix this method with different types of media elements. Some of the main program elements were: - - skill-development workshops on cultural awareness, art and design
- working individually and in small, big and mixed groups
- teambuilding activities
- self-assesment
- improvement of key competences
- sharing of best practices
- outdoor activities
- media workshops
- photo- and video workshops

Outcomes of the activity

Participants learned about new methods and developed some crucial soft skills which they can use in their personal and professional lives as well. They received new knowledge and gained experience on different kinds of media tools which will be a great asset to their work. They were not only able to learn and develop personally and professionally, but also already during the training course they had the change to put into practice their newly learned knowledge and skills while designing and implementing educational activities within the framework of the training course.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was one of the co-trainers. I took an active part in designing and implementing the program. We put together the program of the training course together with the other co-trainer, we finalised it together and during the implementation we shared between each other who holds each workshop/session. I also took part in the follow up phase of the activity where I supported participants in further following their learning paths and while implementing their follow up activities.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
