Advanced SUPS Aachen 2018

Aims & objectives

Summer University is the flagship project of AEGEE.
Advanced SUPS (Summer University Project School) aims at training Summer University organizers/coordinators on conflict management, team management, group dynamics, leadership, fundraising, storytelling. Since the scope is so wide and the time so limited, 12+ working hours a day are actually happening.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

We were 3 trainers (from Spain and Slovakia) and 2 co-trainers (from Germany). We had 13 participants from The Nederlands, Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, Poland, Russia and Spain.

Training methods used & main activities

Simulations and vernissages were dominant.

One of the trainers simulated a museum room with paintings on Risk Management and relaxing background music.

A simulation on Corporate Fundraising and a Roleplay on Leadership under handicapped conditions have been run as well.

Outcomes of the activity

The training was highly experimental and got quite some attention within our network (Facebook event for reference: https://www.facebook.com/events/1881380861916212/).

A detailed evaluation form allowed us to spot significant increases in knowledge and understanding for our participants, mainly in the areas of Team Management, Storytelling and Conflict Management.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I performed as project coordinator and full time trainer, managing the trainers' schedule, keeping an overview of the local organizers' activities and developing+delivering part of the sessions myself.

I worked on this training for 4 days as a full time trainer.
