Manual
This booklet is the report from the Youth Exchange held in Lama dei Peligni (Italy) by the 01 21 Aps, from 14th to 20th of September 2022. This guide collects all technical information, methods and information for young people and organisations
The principal aim of the booklet is to spread the results of YOU ACT among young people. This project was designed to help young people who were approaching environmentalism for the first time, and who were motivated to play an active role in society and in the decision-making processes of the upcoming ecological transition. Therefore, the objectives of the project were:
- to strengthen young people's basic scientific knowledge of the study of climate change by guiding them in the acquisition of technical and scientific knowledge about the nature of climate change through creative and stimulating informal and non-formal learning methods
- to promote an interdisciplinary approach to the study of science, capable of stimulating all young people in different ways
- to raise participants' awareness of the indirect effects of the climate crisis, such as social problems (emigration, conflicts etc.), and youth psychophysical disorders (eco-anxiety, eco-mourning, solastalgia etc.)
The guide is divided into four areas, representing what a young activist should consider in order to be active against climate change:
- scientifical definition of climate change
- its main consequences on people and societies
- individual responsabilties and conscious choices
- activism as collective, movements for climate
These 4 areas are then deepened with scientific definitions, practical examples and links
After the 4 areas, some of the green activities implemented during the exchange are described, such as:
- Scientifically talking: what climate change is? (BRAINSTORMING)
- Earth's Thermometer: Oceans, Land, Water, Atmosphere (WORKSHOP)
- EUROPEAN BIODIVERSITY: AN HIDDEN TREASURE (Interactive workshop)
- Natural phenomena: how nature talk to us (steam)
- ECO-PURSUIT (Gamification; boardgame)
- Climate Change and People (workshop, brainstorming)
- WeWorld Circus Show: Climate Crisis is Social Crisis
(simulation game; put yourself in the other's shoes)
- Tell me what you feel: eco-anxiety and solastalgia (workshop)
- An activism of small choices (charette brainstorming)
- The paradox of eco-capitalism: greenwashing and other tricks (Workshop)
- From Garden to Street (simulation excercise)
- What's next? (workshop)
The last part consists of the results of the project and in particular:
- YOU ACT photo e-album
- video-reportage (reel)
- A NEW eco-activity for the next projects
- A STORYTELLING
- comic with all the participants
