Exercise
Life line is a tool that provides the participants an opportunity for self-reflection and individual insight while exploring various issues/topics. Life line is perfect 'opener' of starting sessions and discussions.
To provide the participants an opportunity to reflect on various issues through their personal life experiences;
To give the participants an space to get ready for an discussion or other activity that is tackling the covered issues;
To develop the participants abilities of self-reflection and self-awareness.
Life line is an individual tool. At the start the participants are asked to work individually without sharing their impressions or thoughts with others.
The main theme is introduce e.g. non-formal education and participants are asked to write down their 'life line' in connection with this main theme - to write down all moments that they remember and which they consider to be important. Several examples are being given e.g. in case of non-formal education as examples were mentioned following moments: 'great teacher in the basic school'; 'the experience gained through voluntary work', 'the clash with unmotivated teacher'...
After the participants have a time (up to 20 minutes) to work on their time line and capture (write down or draw) the important moments.
Next step can be sharing in smaller group or in one big groups depends on the need of the implemented activity.
The tools showed up to be really good started for opening topics/issues as it makes the participants reflect on their personal experiences and it is also supporting sharing within the group.

If the participants are being asked to write it down pen and paper are enough. In case of drawing any drawing equipment is welcome.
