Inclusive volunteering: MANUAL FOR CARETAKERS AND FOR CAREGIVERS
This manual addresses those who take care of volunteers with disabilities on a daily basis, whether they are parents or professionals, so that they learn how to motivate and support the volunteer in his or her volunteering journey.
Aims of the tool
- to provide volunteer coordinators a set of tools and concepts usefull to adreess parents and caregiver/caretakers of volunteers with disability
- to inform caretakers and caregivers about inclusive volunteering
- to provide caretakers and caregivers with the needed knowledge and know how to be supportive and motivating for the volunteer with disability
Description of the tool
This manual is part of the multidimensional approach IMProVE 2.0 for inclusive volunteering for people with disabilities (developed within the homonymous project).
The approach IMProVE 2.0 includes training and consultancy interventions aimed at:
• people with disabilities
• their caretakers and caregivers: therefore family members and those who take care of people with disabilities at a professional level
• organizations that host volunteers
• organizations that coordinate volunteers, through the provision of a new volunteer figure called an inclusion mediator
This manual contains informations and activities about:
- how to support the volunteer
- how to promote empowerment
- barriers and problem solving
- success factors
