The YOUnite Modules offer flexible training tools for youth workers, focusing on health, nutrition, sports, stress, awareness, and employability. Based on practical activities, the tools can be tailored to promote healthier lifestyles for at-risk youth.
The YOUnite Modules aim to:
1) Promote Healthy Habits: By raising awareness around balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and effective stress management, the Modules encourage at-risk youth to adopt healthier lifestyles.
2) Build Confidence and Social Inclusion: Through personal development activities, the Modules help young people boost self-esteem, overcome social isolation, and engage more positively with their peers.
3) Enhance Employability: The employability-focused activities are designed to prepare young people for the labor market, helping them develop key skills such as job interview techniques, CV writing, and navigating workplace dynamics.
4) Combat Stigma and Discrimination: The Modules also address the weight-related discrimination young people may face, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for personal and professional growth.
We are focusing on these aims because the challenges faced by young people at risk of overweight or obesity go beyond physical health. These individuals often face social isolation, discrimination, and lower self-esteem, which can hinder their personal development and limit their opportunities in the labor market. By addressing health, self-confidence, and employability together, we aim to create a more holistic approach that empowers young people to break free from these barriers and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. These aims are crucial for fostering social inclusion, promoting equal opportunities, and ultimately helping youth build a better future for themselves.
The YOUnite Modules serve as practical training tools designed to support trainers, teachers, and youth workers in engaging with young people at risk of becoming overweight or obese. These Modules cover six key areas: health, nutrition, sports, stress management, awareness, and employability. Each Module provides a structured set of activities that can be used individually or as part of a comprehensive training program.
To further support trainers, each Module is accompanied by a separate "Instruction for Trainers" documents (downloadable from the YOUnite website). These offer basic facts, terminology, and guidance on how to effectively implement the activities and guide participants through the program.
The aim of the Modules is to encourage healthier lifestyle choices, boost self-confidence, and equip young people with practical skills that will increase their chances in the labor market. The flexibility of the Modules allows trainers to adapt them to suit different needs and environments, making them valuable tools in empowering youth on their journey toward better health and employment.
Each YOUnite Module contains enough material for approximately 16 hours of engagement, with individual activities ranging from 45 to 120 minutes. Trainers have the flexibility to mix and match activities based on the specific needs of their participants and training setting. The Modules are available in five languages: English, German, Finnish, Hungarian, and Polish and downloadable from the YOUnite project website:
