The main goal of the Youth exchange ‘Volunteer for better future!’ is to influence youngsters to be active participants in the society by giving them an opportunity to experience the benefits of volunteering on personal and societal level. In that sense, we want to gather young people together and explain different approaches and perspectives in volunteering, as well as to provide them space to exchange voluntary experiences and practices. For that purpose, the project will give advice about active youth involvement and how to use their leisure time qualitatively and usefully in order to contribute to a cause they care about and consequently build a better society. Through their engagement, young people will enrich their skills, gain competences and learn how they can contribute to the improvement of society as European citizens. Even more, since one of the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme is to promote mobility, volunteerism and active citizenship, we believe it represents a perfect opportunity to carry out this project with the support of this Programme. Given all that, the projects’ objectives are set as following:
● to explain different approaches and perspectives in volunteerism;
● to allow exchange of voluntary experiences and practices among youngsters coming from different countries, cultures and backgrounds;
● to raise awareness among youth across Europe about the social value of volunteerism to young people from less developed countries, such as those in the Balkans;
● to inspire youngsters to take part in more voluntary activities in their countries and abroad;
● to empower youth to become more active in their daily life and to use their time qualitatively and usefully while contributing to a greater cause;
● to give advice about active youth involvement, European citizenship and to promote social responsibility and inclusion;
● to transform participant’s own personal experiences, to develop competencies and to learn a variety of techniques to develop creatively;
● to encourage participants’ talents and build their confidence;
● to promote the Erasmus+ Programme, different voluntary opportunities offered for young people, as well as non-formal learning;
● to provide an opportunity for intercultural dialogue and to strengthen respect for cultural diversity.
